World Champion Steven Hartson continues with LRP!

LRP is proud to announce that reigning 1/10 4WD Offroad World Champion Steven Hartson has extended his contract with Blue is Better. A World Champion driver and World Champion technology – a perfect team!

When a highly talented driver and a world class manufacturer work together, considerable racing success is programmed. So, it is no wonder that Team Associated’s Steven Hartson and LRP decided to continue their long-term common way again.

After winning the IFMAR 1/10 4WD Offroad World Championship title in 2013, Steven also celebrated a great 2014 season. His highlights were victories at highly prestigious races like the JConcepts Stock Nationals, the Reedy Truck Race, the April Fools Classic and the Surf City Classic where he won the 1/8 E-Buggy class. In both the 2WD and 4WD classes of the US ROAR Nationals, he qualified to the A-finals.
Absolute highlight of the upcoming season will be the IFMAR World Championship in Japan in October. Steven and LRP are together aiming in defending the title. For Blue is Better it would be the third 4WD Worlds victory in a row.

Steven is a driver who continuously gives valuable comments on the products he uses. His feedback from testing and racing supports the LRP R&D department in providing first-class equipment for top-level racing. Therefore, Steven is already looking forward to exciting new racing products in the pipeline, starting with the ground-breaking new LRP battery line that will be available in April. In addition to LRP battery and charging technology, Steven Hartson also trusts in the World Championship winning LRP Flow WorksTeam & LRP Vector X20 combo for 1/10 as well as in the LRP iX8 & LRP Dynamic 8 combo for 1/8. For his excursions into 1/8 nitro offroad racing, Steven relies on the LRP ZZ.21C Ceramic Spec.2 competition engine.

This is what Steven had to state:
“I've trusted LRP equipment for 8 years now and I'm very happy to be continuing with LRP in 2015. LRP products have provided me awesome power throughout my career and I know there is more "Blue is Better" technology coming soon, starting with an entirely new battery line in April 2015. I look forward to using this new technology to defend my 4WD IFMAR World Championship at Yatabe Arena in Japan this year.”

What can we say more? Just good speed and all the best for the upcoming racing season, Steven!

XB8 wins Moro Race in Spain

Some tough racing with a lot of air was on at Sant Joan’s Moro Race track last weekend. After getting the 2nd position on the grid for qualification heats I was able to grab the pole position for the finals. With consistent driving and a bit of luck in tough competition I cross the finish line in first place and took home the victory.

On The Rug

Mike Garrison takes the win on the rug with JConcepts.

The 2015 Race On The Rug event hosted by the RC Complex in Bolivar, Missouri. The facility recently decided to remove their dirt offroad track, and replace it with a European style carpet offroad track. Winter weather and icy roads unfortunately struck the area leading up to the race.

The Mod 4wd Buggy class was a bit light in attendance, but still offered some close racing and blistering fast speeds for the spectators to enjoy. TLR/JConcepts driver Mike Garrison managed to capture TQ in qualifying with the only 18-lap run in the class. As the A-Final got underway, it was a back and forth battle in the early laps between Garrison and Intech’s Dave Ferrell. After a slight mistake by Ferrell following close in 2nd, Garrison was able to stretch out his lead and cruise to victory!

Mike says, “I was skeptical of the idea of racing offroad on carpet, but after this weekend I must admit it was definitely a good time! Thank you to TLR, Horizon Hobby, Spektrum, JConcepts, Venom RC, Tekin, RDRP, and Moto1 Paint for making it all possible!”

2015 Tasmanian State Titles

The Tasmanian 1/10 offroad state titles were held over the weekend of 20-22 February at the Goodwood club in Hobart, Tasmania. Racers were treated to a fun dirt track and hot summer weather.

The JConcepts Australia team had a successful weekend, taking 4 state titles and 5 TQs over the weekend.

Ray Munday (JC / AE / Reedy) took the double TQ in 2wd Modified (B5M) and 4wd Modified (B44.3). Ray narrowly missed the win in 2wd, but sealed the deal in 4wd modified for his 24th state title.

Keeping the success in the family, Rays 9 year old son Lachlan took TQ and won all 3 finals in the 17.5T Junior class with his B5M to win his first ever state title.

Ray and Lachlan used a range of JConcepts accessories on their buggies including Finnisher bodies, Hi-Clearance pre-cut wings, Mono wheels, Fin turnbuckles, titanium axles, chassis protectors and more. Control tires were used at the event, with Ray and Lachlan using JC front tires on their 2wd buggies.

Ash Peeler (JC / TLR / Tekin) reinforced his reputation as truck master by taking TQ and 1st in both SCT and Stadium truck classes using JConcepts front tires and accessories.

Thanks to the club for a great event!

Motorama results

What an awesome weekend of racing. We headed north to Harrisburg PA about 8 hours away. The weather was cold but the racing was hot inside the 15 acre indoor complex. There were 2 different tracks built, one for 1/10 and the larger track for 1/8 scale cars. Each side had 350 racers signed up.The boys raced on the 1/8th side competing in the Pro Ebuggy class and also in Pro Etruggy. There were a total of 95 racers in Ebuggy and 50 in Etruggy.

They ran 3 rounds of qualifiers taking your best 2 runs to seat you for the mains. In Pro Buggy Griffin Hanna was able to take the top qualifying spot. For the mains they ran a triple A main format taking your best 2 runs for overall position.
In the buggy A1 race Griffin lead the first lap and he had a screw back out of the steering knuckle which lead him to finish last in the first run. Not the way we wanted things to go. Needless to say every screw had a wrench put on it before the next round. A2 was a nail biter, first lap Griff stuffed the pipe a few turns in and dropped to 4th. By the end of the first lap he was up to 2nd. The pressure was on and he needed a good finish to be top 3. Mid ways in the run he made a small mistake which let the leader get away. He needed a little luck on his side and he got it. With about a minute to go the leader rolled it and Griffin was able to take the lead. He would go on to take A2. In A3 Griffin put in a clean run and lead start to finish. That gave him the overall win in Pro Buggy.

In the Truggy class he would qualify 2nd on the grid. All three A mains were really exciting. He would finish 3rd in A1,3rd in A2 and 2nd in A3.With his best 2 runs he would finish 2nd overall.

Collin had a few rough qualifiers but not bad overall. He would qualify 4th in the B main. From the B main they would take the top 2 to transfer into the A group of racers. Collin Hanna stayed patient till the time was right and was able to get by the top 3 racers. As he was coming around to take the checkered flag,he managed to catch a kicker and flip on the big sweeper. Luckily the turn marshal was able to get back straight to take the win. Collin had a great car but coming from the back of the pack was tough. In A1 he finished 8th,A2 he was able to grab a 4th place finish. A3 he was up to 3rd and caught the same rut and would drop back to 5th. With his total points he would finish 5th overall which is really strong.

Super proud of both of the boys for what they have accomplished over the passed weekend. Both of their Serpent Cobra 811's were dialed on the rough blown out track. This was the first time Griffin ran Etruggy and it went super smooth. He said it was really easy to drive. Thank you to Paul Ciccarello for pushing me to make all the changes,it was worth all the work. Both of the boys qualified all day on the same set of Sweep silver Dirt Effects. We were gonna run the same set but decided to run a brand new set for the mains. They worked really well on the dusty blown out track. All of our Tekin equipment ran flawless. The RX8 ESC and 1900kv motor ran great in both buggies. Griffin ran the same Esc in truggy but ran the 2000kv motor in it. All the cars had Avid bearings and was smooth as butter.
Thank you to all of the boys sponsors,Serpent Desoto RacingTeam Tekin Racing Sweep Racing USA.Avid bearingsLeadfinger r/c . Beach Hobbies and Danny Sullivan from SMC batteries.

New XB4 Alu Chassis - Swiss 7075 T6 (3mm)

• Premium Swiss 7075 T6
• 3mm thick
• Super-strong
• Extra-stiff
• Increases cornering speed
• Increases stability

CNC-machined chassis made from high-quality 3mm Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum, strategically machined in low-stress areas to make it as light as possible without affecting strength or rigidity.

Designed and recommended for use at high-traction tracks without graphite front and rear top deck. The 3mm chassis increases corner speed and overall stability - a “must have” option part for serious racers. Optional graphite body mounts are recommended for easy body mounting.

Note:
Swiss 7075 T6 is an extremely rigid aluminum material. In some rare cases some small cracks may occur (for example, around openings or on edges where tension in the material is highest). Those small cracks are a natural effect and have no negative impact on the performance, reliability, or lifespan of the product, and as such are not considered to be a defect.

TLR's Ellis and Horizon Hobby UK Team Wrap-up the Off-Road Wars Series

Off-Road Wars 3 - Season Review

The third Off Road Wars series is now over for another winter season and what a successful championship campaign the team has had. Looking back on the series TLR has dominated both 2WD and 4WD on the array of circuits at Maritime. The premier indoor facility has seen some exciting and challenging tracks that have varied from multi-surface through to 100% carpet. The surface change is not the only variable that has occurred over the course of the championship with the track extension being brought in for the fourth round opening the track up allowing for a greater variety of layouts. Both decisions by the club have proved to be popular among the racers going to show that the Maritime club are truly about providing a great track for all to compete on. Speaking with Ian Knight about the track surface change he mentioned that the intention is to introduce wooden turns from time to time to change things up, but the 100% carpet circuit has worked well and provided a different challenge from the traditional mix at the venue.

In 4WD the team took both TQ honors and the win at every rounds of the season with Karl Jackson, Christopher Delves, Billy Fletcher and Ross Nicholson all contributing to this impressive tally. The 22-4 really showed it’s pace in their hands with Karl Jackson being crowned Champion at the penultimate round of the series having won 3 of the 4 rounds and finishing 2nd in the other round, leaving the fight for second and third to go down to the wire between Billy and Chris. At the final round of the series Billy clinched TQ ahead of Chris and Karl only to make an error in the final that ended his fight for 2nd handing it to Chris whilst Ross took the final victory of the season to end it on a high and take fifth in the championship. This meant that TLR took 4 of the top 5 championships spots! Congratulations to Karl on his first ORW title, he was fully deserved of the win ahead of teammates Chris and Billy with the trio often having some very close and exciting racing during qualifying and the finals.

The 2WD class was dominated by Ellis Stafford in the early rounds taking the TQ spot and the win at rounds 1 and 2. Christopher Delves would be runner up behind Ellis but on occasion looked as if he could take the fight to the lead driver only to make small errors that cost big. Chris’ chance came at round 3 where he took his first TQ and Win of the series which couple with a tough day at the office for Ellis meant that Chris was leading the championship going into the 4th round. Ellis resumed normal performance by clinching maximum points in the fourth round and thus taking the title fight down to the final round with Chris having a single point lead over Ellis. At the final round of the series 8th scale pro Jack Embling was in attendance to take the competition level up a notch. Whilst Jack took the TQ spot the final wasn’t a one horse race with the deciding podium positions coming down to the last few laps where Jack took the win 1.5seconds ahead of Chris and Ellis. Despite beating his teammate Ellis had a low counting score from round 3 that he dropped to take the title win by 3 points. Billy Fletcher has had a tough time in 2wd often showing blistering pace but seemingly not coming together for him but despite this he managed to round off the top 3 in the 2wd championship in 3rd to make it another championship lockout for the TLR/Horizon Hobby UK team. Karl Jackson and Glenn Doman finished up 8th and 10th respectively in the championship that meant 5 of the top 10 were TLR 22 2.0 proving the cars pace and speed at this venue. Congratulations to Ellis on his impressive third consecutive championship win at ORW’s.

It has to be said that the Maritime track crew out did themselves at every round giving up their own time during the week on the lead up to the event to build tracks that challenged and excited all. This is often a thankless job that goes un-noticed but all who competed at the event had nothing but praise for their efforts and we would like to thank the guys for their work on the lead up to the event not to mention during the event to repair damaged features and keep the racing going. To the ladies (and Doug) at Maritime Much we all thank you for the countless cups of tea and breakfast’s you have prepared for all the racers to keep us going. Even if we have a bad run a cup of tea can fix everything and help us to focus on the problems we are having. Finally thank you to Ian Knight who not only runs a superb event but works hard in the background before and after the event doing many unenviable tasks that we all take for granted. Whether it’s changing a PT number or putting up the race results immediately after the event so you can analyse what happened throughout the day and see where you are in the championship. If you have ever contemplated coming to race at Maritime we highly recommend it if you are looking for some indoor racing at a premier facility.

Off Road Wars 4 will commence later on in 2015 and the team will again be back to defend their titles! For now the team are looking to focus on the upcoming national season and will be using the next month or so to prepare and we would like to wish all our team the best of luck on track this season.
